Sydney Sweeney

Sydney Sweeney is an American actress and producer, born on 12 September 1997 in Spokane, Washington. She grew up between Washington and Idaho, and started acting as a child after persuading her parents to let her audition with a business plan she had written herself. That mix of nerve and preparation has followed her through her whole career.

Breakthrough

After years of small television parts, three roles in 2018 put her on the map: Emaline in the Netflix series Everything Sucks!, Eden in The Handmaid's Tale, and Alice in HBO's Sharp Objects. The following year she joined Euphoria as Cassie Howard, the part most viewers still know her by, and appeared in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

Awards and recognition

In 2022 she received two Emmy nominations in the same year, one for Euphoria and one for playing Olivia Mossbacher in the first season of The White Lotus. Few actors of her generation have been nominated for a drama and a limited series at once.

Film

On the big screen she has moved between genres on purpose. Reality (2023) is a one-location drama built from a real FBI interrogation transcript. Anyone But You (2023), opposite Glen Powell, became one of the most successful romantic comedies in years. Immaculate (2024) is a horror film she had chased for a decade and finally produced herself, and Madame Web (2024) took her into the Marvel universe. In 2025 she played the boxer Christy Martin in Christy, a role that required months of training.

Producer

Through her company Fifty-Fifty Films she develops and produces her own projects, which is why several recent films list her twice in the credits. She has said in interviews that producing gives her a say in the stories women get to tell on screen.
