Sydney Sweeney in Sharp Objects

Sharp Objects is an HBO limited series directed by Jean-Marc Vallée from the novel by Gillian Flynn. Amy Adams plays Camille Preaker, a reporter who returns to her home town in Missouri to write about the murders of two girls.

Sweeney plays Alice, the teenage roommate of Camille during a stay in a psychiatric hospital, seen in flashbacks. The part is short. It carries a great deal of the emotional history of the main character. Sweeney has said that she prepared for it by speaking with people who had lived through self-harm. It was one of the three roles of 2018 that made casting directors notice her.
