Cream on cream, with a crisp collared capelet falling over a sculpted bodice, and soft fabric blossoms in ivory and blush scattered across the shoulder and skirt like petals caught mid-drift. Sydney Sweeney stands with her hands loosely clasped at her waist, rings catching the light, her blonde hair parted and pushed behind one shoulder, her smile wide and genuinely delighted rather than posed. Beside her, Ana de Armas leans in with a red-lipped grin, her pale pink sequined skirt shimmering under the same bank of flashes. Behind them the dark step-and-repeat repeats its festival branding, the blue-black field making both gowns glow. It is the particular warmth of two people happy to be sharing a red carpet at the Toronto International Film Festival.
This photograph was taken at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2024, at the world premiere of Eden. Ron Howard directed the film, and Sweeney plays Margret Wittmer, one of the settlers on the island of Floreana. She walked the carpet with the director and with her fellow cast members, among them Ana de Armas.
