Caught mid-laugh, she turns her face toward something just off camera, and the whole frame warms because of it. Long blonde waves fall past her shoulders in soft, glossy curls, brushing the neckline of a blush satin corset gown whose visible boning and topstitched seams give the pale fabric structure and a hint of old-fashioned couture; a flash of deep red peeks in at the lower edge. Her makeup stays luminous and unfussy, letting the smile do the work. Behind her, the navy step-and-repeat is printed with TIFF lettering and sponsor logos, the standard backdrop of a film festival arrival, and the even daylight keeps every detail crisp. It is a portrait of someone genuinely enjoying the moment rather than posing through it.
This photograph was taken at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2025, at the world premiere of Christy. Sweeney plays the boxer Christy Martin in the film by David Michôd, a part for which she trained for months. Toronto was the first time an audience saw the film.
