Cream suits her. The wide, crisp collar of her jacket frames the face like a photographer's own reflector, and at the shoulder a cluster of soft ivory petals and a gilded leaf adds an unexpected touch of romance to something otherwise architectural. Her hair, honey-toned and center-parted, falls loose past the shoulders with a few strands drifting free across the cheek. The smile is full and unguarded, eyes bright, chin lifted slightly toward the row of lenses just off frame. Warm light catches the blush along her cheekbones and the deep berry sheen of her lip. Behind her, the festival's dark navy step-and-repeat repeats its letters, a quiet reminder of the occasion at the Toronto International Film Festival.
This photograph was taken at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2024, at the world premiere of Eden. Ron Howard directed the film, and Sweeney plays Margret Wittmer, one of the settlers on the island of Floreana. She walked the carpet with the director and with her fellow cast members, among them Ana de Armas.
